The Truth About Learning

As much as we would like to learn skills from books, videos, and websites, there is no substitute for a real live teacher. A competent teacher can answer our questions in a manner that works for us because he or she can feel what our needs are and engage us in a discussion. A competent teacher can guide us according to what we need. "NEED", not "WANT". Big difference. Excellence at any endeavor takes millions of adjustments over a course of years. Only with the assistance of a teacher/guide can we hope to reach the highest levels of accomplishment and the deepest levels of understanding.  The is no book or electronic media that can do any of these things... Not even close.

Please learn every day. Please seek out those who can guide you down your path. There is an ancient saying that "nothing has been said which has not been said before." I would add that there is no path for which we cannot seek and receive guidance. I believe that everything new is a recombination and different perspective on older ideas. It's okay... and it's still your own, unique path.      - Dave Bendigkeit

What  is Ki-Works?

Ki-Works is the name of the energy and healing aspects of Shintaikido, a martial art which focuses on the energy aspects of people in conflict. Shintaikido practitioners are trained to view the resolution of conflict to be a process of healing the mind, body, and spirit of all of the people involved. Ki-Works bases all of its practices on energy flow in the human body. Ki-Works sessions include centering, movement, and Ki-energy training along with Shintaikido Meridian Therapy.

“Ki” or “Chi” is what the Japanese and Chinese cultures, respectively, call the life energy that flows through all living things. Without Ki, life cannot exist, for Ki is the “life force” itself. The belief in the human body as an energy driven organism is an ancient one. The Chinese developed the theory that energy moves through the body along a system of “meridians” or energy streams. Along these meridians are pressure sensitive points which, according to most practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine, are thought to control the flow of Ki to the various organs and systems in the body. Physical manipulation along these meridians and pressure points can have an effect on the health and well-being of an individual.

There are many variations on the central theme of energy flow and its effect on the functioning of the body. Most major practices use Ki energy as the basis of their treatments. However, the patient’s role is that of a receiver and not as an active participant in the therapy process. In other words, you get things done to you without any effort or self-healing on your part. The difference between these practices and Ki-Works is that you learn how to develop your own Ki so that you can actively participate in leading a healthier life.

Ki-Works teaches you to move your energy and your body in a manner that is in tune with your own needs, thus reducing the chances that you will be overtaken by any number of the stress related maladies that plague our modern life. Practitioners of massage therapy, psychic healing, Reiki, past life regression, and many other kinds of energy therapy find that Ki-Works techniques greatly improve their proficiency. They also find tremendous growth in their ability to control the flow of energy within and without. This is extremely important to those who tend to take on too much of the subject's negative energy. Ki-Works also increases the practitioner's sensitivity to all kinds of energy; and as a therapist, sensitivity is paramount to the healing process.

Ki-Works training includes learning a daily routine consisting of gentle stretching, Meditation, Chi Gung Exercises, Ki extension, sensitivity exercises, partner practices, along with Shintaikido Meridian Therapy, Tai Chi, and more! You will feel centered, awake, and energized in a totally different way than ever before! Ki-Works becomes an approach to movement and living, rather than a set of exercises. More advanced training includes energy shapes, aura strength, directing, deflecting, and getting rid of negative energy that has been allowed to intrude into our bodies. Ki-Works training gives the individual control over their energy and the energy that surrounds them.
