Designed to give participants information about being “street smart”,
Shintaikido Self-Defense stresses the importance of knowing your surroundings,
being aware of potentially dangerous situations and looking at things from a
different perspective, as someone who is in control rather than a victim.
It also will shed some light on the profile of an assailant so you can
learn to think how he or she thinks. The
class will cover self-defense techniques that really work and some common sense
preventative measures to incorporate into your lifestyle.
When attacked, people have
what can be referred to as a psycho-chemical stress reaction, the “fight or
flight” reaction. Adrenaline is dumped into the system and you freeze. You
will learn to turn this moment into one of action on your part. Kaiso calls this
aspect of training Adrenaline Stress Conditioning.
The class will also include
learning to punch and kick correctly, bag work, escapes from being grabbed,
learning to fall safely, defenses from the ground, and work with a padded, live
“attacker”, courtesy of a Shintaikido of Pacifica adult male student.
Learn self-defense techniques that really work.
The class will be carefully taught in a safe manner.
Please wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.
