Okazaki Restoration Therapy

Using Asian techniques thousands of years old, Okazaki Restoration Therapy is very effective in treating musculo-skeletal ailments along with nerve problems. It is a deep tissue type of massage that incorporates the major acupoints involved in healing the body and balancing the energy.  Professor Henry Seishiro Okazaki, founder of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, also taught “Seifukujitsu”, which is a Japanese-based combination of massage, acupressure and herbal healing. Okazaki Restoration Therapy is still practiced by his son Hachiro, at the Nikko Sanitorium in Honolulu. The styles of massage incorporated in this therapy are Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi, Swedish and Japanese Anma massage.

What is Taught?

This course covers the Basic Okazaki massage procedure and includes applicable anatomy and appropriate explanation of the theories for the massage procedure along with some historical data.

Comments regarding some of Dave Bendigkeit's previous Okazaki courses.

How has taking this course influenced your view of your massage practice?

I now recognize (massage) as an effective healing tool that can complement my psychotherapeutic work.   -  Desiree Pascual   Hypnotherapist & C.M.T.

How much I have yet to learn, and my capacity to grow like a weed in this field! I think it has given me a new taste and respect for what I do. Another tool I can now use when all other modalities I have tried don’t quite do the job.       - Michael Lillehaug C.M.T.

Massage should be integrated into all forms of martial training for the purpose of general health, knowledge of the body and its functions. Ultimately, massage forces a kind of respect for the body that is usually not acquired through martial training alone.       - Sifu John Magee

Sensei Dave Bendigkeit is a very good teacher and we have covered a good deal of material. Not only the Okazaki routine and the manual, but also the water massage and demonstration of moxa and electrical stimulus. The patient history form is a good guide. I would highly recommend this course to others and specifically to seek Sensei Dave Bendigkeit.  - Regards & Aloha    Mahalo Nui Loa       Sifu Rick Wong

In 1967, Dave Bendigkeit began his training in the martial art of Aikido with Robert Nadeau Sensei. Nadeau Sensei helped to encourage his interest in the energy and healing aspects of the martial arts. Years of study and practice with Ki Healing, Acupressure, Japanese and Western massage, and Essential Oil & Herbal Therapy, grew into Shintaikido Meridian Therapy. He is a certified instructor & practitioner of Okazaki Restoration Therapy (under Professor James Muro), and a certified practitioner of G-Jo Acupressure Therapy. He has conducted numerous workshops.
